MAKING PA ECONOMICALLY COMPETITIVE

Pennsylvanians and our most dependent sectors are at risk. Automation, specifically, will cause over 85 million jobs to be lost by 2025. Our Commonwealth needs to reach a solution instead of losing economic competitiveness. The way to turn this around is by updating our outdated education system. The National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) and Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), in a bipartisan effort, gathered to conduct research on organizing educational systems and recognizing workforce needs.

PA SPOTLIGHT

SENATE BILL 771

For Pennsylvanians, economic prosperity and growth are now on the horizon. Many of the concepts contained in Senator Aument’s sponsored legislation, Senate Bill 771, were officially worked into law in the recent passing of the state budget. We can finally start working to reduce our Corporate Net Income tax rate and bring businesses, corporations, and ultimately jobs to Pennsylvania.

As Senator Ryan Aument stated, “lower taxes not only spur economic growth but can generate more tax revenues by widening the economic playing field. The trick is to stop scaring off job-creators with rates far above the acceptable norm.”

However, we cannot afford additional hurdles or delays. Each year we have a noncompetitive CNI rate is another year where Pennsylvania could miss out on new business and opportunity. Portions of Senate Bill 771 being adapted into the state budget is a huge step in the right direction, but the fight isn’t over yet.
