CHECK AND BALANCE FOR MEDICAID PRESCRIPTIONS & PROTECTING THE TAXPAYER

 According to the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, approximately 3.1 million Pennsylvanians are enrolled in Medicaid. However, there is no certainty in checks and balances when it comes to prescriptions. 

To address this systematic flaw, Sen. Aument introduced Senate Bill 917 which was passed unanimously by the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. This bill will hold pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) in Medicaid accountable for how our taxpayer dollars are spent.    “By shining a light on the reimbursement process used in our Medicaid programs, we can better scrutinize how these taxpayer dollars are spent and work to reduce the overall cost of prescriptions for Pennsylvania residents,” Aument said.
